Can't help the poor if I'm one of em!

‎"I cant help the poor if I'am one of em" - Jay Z. So I guess everyone made it through friday. Now not everyone was freakin out but some people were, but what if the world really was going to end? Would you be freaking out or not? Would you be attached to your life here? Or would you be able to let it go?
See I think a lot of people don't realize that it is a good thing to have wealth, without it its a lot harder to help others. That having wealth is a sin, and yea it can lead you to sin, but if you have wealth and are ok with giving it away at any moment then its not bad. The reason being that your not attached to it and treat it as your God rather you use it to help others.
So if the world were to end would you be willing to give up everything you have? Can you give up the things you have now to help others? This week give some money in the collection box at mass. It can be tough but if you can give a little then you can give alot. Remember its the season of giving :) Will you Take the Challenge?

Mountains and Valleys

The world is filled with mountains and valleys, things that are built up and things that are deep. Making it hard to travel. People are also like this. Some people built them selves up while others tear themselves down. But also like the world these peoples hearts are hard for the Lord to travel.
People build themselves up by building their egos and crushing others. While others tear themselves down, hiding behind a veil of untrue humility.
In order for the Lord to easily pass into our lives we must level our mountains and fill in our valleys. Humility doesn't mean tearing our selves down. It means realizing our God given talents, rejoicing in these talents, and bringing people to God with these talents. This is also the second week of our journey of Advent to Christmas. This week think and utilize ways to bring others on your journey towards Christ. Will you Take the Challenge?

Trust

Each on of us are on a journey. Where were going God only knows, but along that journey we come across people places and ideas that we can't even imagine happening. Sometimes those people places and ideas are just things that pass through our lives, strengthening us and others. While other times those things need to be grasped before they slip away. So many people are given amazing ideas and gifts but because of fear are to afraid to do anything about it. The world was and never will be changed by people sitting around coming up with ideas. Action and trust is what moves society in what ever direction it is going. This past week a friend of mine was in adoration and was given an idea to make a facebook group and he made it. He took action. This week if an idea or person is put in your life, don't let it slip, take action, to better the kingdom of God. Will you Take the Challenge?
*Disclaimer*
Any and every outcome that occurs after said action is taken with out the discretion of God, can and probably will be not a wise choice.

I also encourage you to follow my friends group! Just starting but sounds like its going to be really good.

Pur-Ga-Tory

The communion of saints is everyone on earth, in heaven and in purgatory. The souls in heaven can pray for us and the souls in purgatory. While we can pray for the souls on earth and in purgatory. What we don't realize though is the power we have to help others with just a few words. Earlier this week I put a post up about a prayer that releases 1,000 souls from purgatory. Its a paragraph and it releases 1,000 souls in purgatory! These same souls will then be with you at the time of death and in the face of God. Like what the heck?!? I few words and you've helped 1,000 people! This week say a hail mary, or a whole rosary, or offer up a mass, everyday, for some one that is stuck in purgatory and needs that one more prayer or one more mass said for them to get to heaven. Will you Take the Challenge?

I WIll Wait

Our society tells us, through music, tv, etc., what we are to be. What we are to do. Basically the message is go out and do what ever the heck you want. That what ever you want you can have now and who cares what happens. YOLO :P
But this song, firstly gives me hope for society, but also shows that good things are worth waiting for. This is a message of chastity intermingled with one of the best bands. It also shows integrity. This guy is singing to his wife! So I'll be bold
As well as strong
And use my head alongside my heart
So tame my flesh
And fix my eyes
That tethered mind free from the lies
Like what?!?! He stepping out from what society tells us, being bold as well as strong! Hes choosing to use his heart, not by itself but along side his head! (Eros and Agape love. Look it up if you don't know it. Start by looking at theology of the body)
Hes choosing to take hold of his flesh and fix his eyes, from what this world shows us, to things of greater glory! Freeing from the lies!
If a man, with this much popularity, can step out and say these things why can't you? Will you allow yourself to be used and abused by society? Or will you be bold as well as strong? This week pray for you future spouse. Who knows what they are going through. Also, if the opportunity arises to talk about this topic, then take it. The holy spirit will guide you on what to say. Everyone can restart and everyone can be forgiven :)

Something to Chew

You ever thought about what rumors do? What they do to you and what they do to the person your rumoring about?

A Post By You

This weeks challenge is presented by one of you guys :)

Have you ever wondered where God is? Have you ever had decisions to make, big or small, that confuse you so much? God wants us to be happy; He wants us to be at peace. The turmoil and the anguish are all because we are fighting Him. We are fighting His Will for us. I never understood this until now. I never “wanted” to follow God’s Will with my whole being. I was just afraid of being alone. I was afraid of not having anyone. All my friends had abandoned me, and I was having trouble finding new ones. I wasn’t happy where I was in my life. I was afraid to lose what little I had. I was going through school, boy, friends, and most of all family problems that were hurting me every day and instead of pulling me to God, I let them push me from Him. But then it was like lightening hit me! I didn’t have little, and it didn’t matter if I was all alone and even if I had nothing. I ALWAYS had God. And if that meant me sacrificing for a while and having no friends or no one to hang out with at least that must be what God wanted of me at this moment. Maybe God wanted to lead me through a desert before He took me to the Promised Land. If that meant loving family through all the pain and the past and the mistakes then that was what I was going to do. I have loved and I have been hurt, as have all of us.

We need to stop worrying about ourselves, stop caring what others think about us. At our judgment day, God isn’t going to say “well this person thought this about you, and this person said that.” It will be between YOU and GOD and that’s it! What will matter though is how you treated others, how you became Christ to them, how you sacrificed and offered the little things or a quick prayer when you saw someone down in the dumps. Don’t be afraid of God’s Will; don’t be afraid to be alone! God can guide you but you must move your feet. Everything happens for a reason, and that reason is God’s. He decides what’s best for us, even if it seems like it is the hardest thing in the world. I have spent so much time not being open to God, just ignoring Him. Please be open to what God wants. Please talk to Him, spend time with Him, even if it is just five minutes.

I’ve trusted many people that have let me down. But I’ve never trusted in God. I’ve never just let go and known that because God loves me and gave His life for me, that He will not abandon me, He will make everything OK. But I was scared of His timing; I was scared of how long He would take. But most of all, I was scared of trusting and being let down. God won’t let you down, He will give you peace, He will give you happiness. Within Him, is love. True love. That will lead you to the greatest happiness you can ever fathom. I have failed and messed up SO many times in my life, but it all always leads me back to God. God will strengthen us, He will only ever give us what we can handle. I am still scared, I am still imperfect, I am still a sinner. I have still not made all the changes that I want to. I am still figuring out what God wants me to do. Yet I want to be a sinner who loves God, who trusts Him, and who runs to Him whenever I am afraid or lost or confused or in pain or happy or full of joy. I am still a work in progress and if I wasn’t, if we all weren’t, then God would have called us home by now ☺ If I could say one thing to you is that no matter where you are in life, no matter how “messed up” you think you or your family are, no matter if others think you aren’t good enough, GOD KNOWS YOU’RE WORTH IT. He died for you, He is there for you ALWAYS. This week just trust in God. Be open to what He wants instead of what You want. Know that it will be ok. Let go of the things that hurt you or don’t give you peace. God will hold you in the palm of His hand ☺Will you Take the Challenge?

Silent Hill

Ladies and Gentlemen I present to you hell.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMWrZmD0AN4
Here you will never be cold and your friends are out to kill you. Also, its a one way ticket kinda deal. You come and you can never go back. Think about that! You know those nightmares you have that you can never get out of and your terrified to death! I think those are a very very tiny taste of what hell is like. Everyday we either take steps to heaven or hell. I'm pretty sure I don't want to spend eternity in a place like this movie, and hell makes this place look like paradise. Also, who the hell (no pun intended) would go see this movie? and if so why?!?!?! What has become of our society! This week think about this movie and look at what you are doing in your daily life. Is it a step to heaven or a step to "Silent Hill".

Your a Car

Pretty much every car now an days has a little light that goes off that tells you when something is wrong with the engine. With out this little light people would probably drive their cars until they broke down. Thinking everything was fine and dandy. Our spiritual lives are kinda like cars (I know shut up. Just follow me on this one) but we don't have a little light that goes off telling us something is wrong. Rather most people continue along there marry ways thinking everything is fine an dandy. This normally ends up, like most cars, broken down. Every car though has to have a regular inspection in order to keep it running, and so must we. Many people continue doing their daily routines and fail to inspect their spiritual lives for any flaws. If you don't inspect your spiritual lives how are you to keep it running? This week inspect your spiritual lives. What flaws need fixing? What parts need replacing? Will you Take the Challenge?

The Man you Deserve

Dear Ladies,
Fair maidens imagine a man. This man isn't any man though. He is the MAN! The manliest of mans. This manly man is not just any man. This manly man is your man. This man is unique because he is just for you. He's muscular, handsome, and smells like Old Spice. This man also seeks the Lord, takes care of his soul, and respects his body. This man makes you feel like a princess, because you are his princess. This man has SWAG because he is Someone Who Admires God. Imagine this manly man! This manly man is a mirror of who you can be! Nah you may not want to be muscular, handsome, and smell like Old Spice, but you can be someone who whole heartily seeks the Lord. Someone who takes care of her soul and respects her body.
I'm not saying this to make you feel like crap but to encourage you. You can and deserve a man like that, and nothing less, but the man can't signal handily guide you to heaven. Raise the bar and meet him at the bar. Don't raise the bar and expect him to bring you up to it. This week pray for your future spouse, and make a list of what you want in your manly man. Then mirror those things in your life. Will you Take the Challenge?

Something to Chew

Don't worry Gods got it :)

Your cool...

How many times have we been at some place and a man with "gold rings and fine clothes comes in, and you pay attention to the one wearing the fine clothes" an blow off the "poor person". Its like we expect the person in fine clothes to be cool or better then everyone else, because of our perception of them. God forbid we ever hang out with a person who isnt cool! This week try not to blow off the poor person. It may be the Lord in disguise! Will you Take the Challenge?

Good Chap!

On my excursion to the gas station to fetch my self an unhealthy sugary beverage, I noticed, as I was paying for this refreshment, a box of condoms for sale behind the ever so unadorned counter. It then hit me! Our world blunders love with pleasure, and in this mix up attempts to give pleasure to customers as swiftly and efficiently as is plausible. By george, how true this is! With out a care of morality people capitalize on the pleasure that is naturally yearned for by all homo sapiens. We make feeble attempts to satisfy this yearning, which truly is a yearning for the Lord, by slaughtering others for our insignificant selfs. We aren't in the hunger games you know! We rather give admiration to our selfs, and receive flattering remarks, then give compliments to others. We even go so considerably far as to use someone else as a toy for our own sexual "pleasure" and conceal this wrongdoing by saying its love. Wether this said other is physically their with us or on a screen. Pleasure in its utter self is every bit the opposite of love. Love utterly is self sacrificing. Love, good folks, is not something we hold or posses or do. We must be love, in every bit of our being. Our being must be self giving, not wanting! I speak quite often of love. Solely because love is that pivotal to our being. Faith, Hope, and Love. The greatest of these is love. This week distinct what is pleasure in your life, and what is love? Cry out to the Lord for guidance, He's there to help! Forever love my friends! Will you Take the Challenge?

Master Yoda

What if we could all be jedi's! And just like luke we could have our own personal yoda! Guiding us on our journey and giving us words of wisdom. That would be pretty epic! Well sorry yoda we've got something better. Bring in the Holy Spirit! Unlike a little green dude, the Holy Spirit is actually God. Thus, He knows a heck of alot more then a little green guy. He also can work through us (Kinda like the force) in amazing ways we can't even imagine! (I always say a prayer to Him before writing a challenge). Of course we'd want to implore that "force"! This week we will implore that force through a novena to the Holy Spirit!
A novena is a nine-day period of prayer to
obtain special graces, to implore special favors, or to make special
petitions. (Novena is derived from the Latin "novem", meaning nine.)
I know 9 days is longer then a week, but you can do it! Pray for what ever you need. It does work! I can't guarantee you'll get a light saber, levitate or be able to strangle people with out touching them, but if you can do any of those by the end of the novena let me know.
A challenge you have been given! A challenge take you must!

Something to Chew

You probably think a talk about lying is something that should only be addressed to a 5 year old, but to many times adults exploit this habit. Lying is possibly the lamest thing ever. It seems like it will work sooooo well in the moment, but 99.9% of the time it comes back to bite you. Also, the thing with lying is if you say it once you have to say another one to cover that one up and then another to cover the second one up. Its like digging a hole you can't get out of. Next time just the truth. It sucks in the moment but over the long run its going to benefit you. Just Something to Chew

Like a Chicken Without a Head

Our desire for rest, or restlessness, is very great in our world. We are constantly trying to find something to satisfy us. Something we can rest in. Some of us try and find that rest in money. Others try and find it in another person. Aimlessly working for a goal or desire which ultimately won't give us rest but will make us restless. Spending countless hours each day texting others, sitting on Facebook waiting for a notification, or simply vegging and watching TV. In our constant search for rest, we end up walking, even running, in the opposite direction toward restlessness. Hoping that by having this constant contact with others, or simply just having something to do, will satisfy our restlessness. In the words of St. Augustine "Our Hearts are Restless Until They Rest in You". In our constant search for rest we often over look the fact that true rest can only be found in Jesus. This week instead of running around like a chicken with its head cut off looking for rest, take some time to spend with Jesus. Even if you are really busy! If you make time for Him He'll will make time for you! (There are two ways to read into that statement ;P) Will you Take the Challenge?

Something to Chew

Who is a stronger man? A guy in the gym who is ripped with a six pack and getting all of the women or the man who is tempted (even serverly) to view pornograpy or to lust over a woman he just saw and resit it with not his power but with the help of God.

Lovely Love

Picture a place where you are your happiest. Now picture a place where you are your saddest. Now multiply those feelings by a trillion. This is heaven and hell. Naturally we want to get to the happier place, and we also want to bring the person we love the most there. For some of us the person that we love the most is our girlfriend or boyfriend. Sometimes though people get love and sin confused. Love is desiring the greatest good for the beloved (CCC,1766). So if you truly desire the greatest good for the beloved, then you would not what to put your beloved in the state of sin. But still so many people confuse love and sin through intimacy outside of marriage. Through intimacy our bodies are speaking a language of love to one another, and at our wedding day we verbally speak that language through our vows. By speaking the language of our bodies before marriage we are not truly loving the other person but causing them and ourselves to sin. Which obviously isn't love. He/she may say they love you but if their verbal language doesn't match their physical language then it is a lie. Now you or someone you know may have been in this situation, lucky for us God forgives us at confession, but how would do you know what you have done or are doing is love or not? Well if your dad or mom walked into the room what would your reaction be? Thats a pretty good way to tell. This week think about this, and take it to prayer. Do you want to be truly loved? Will you Take the Challenge?

Do you want a drink?

"The reality that our bodies are a gift, and anything we do to them that can ultimately harm us, or likely shortens our lifespan, and presents us as
ungrateful stewards of the body which the Lord of life gave us !
Of couse, you could add the other things which, not in moderation, do
harm to the body: drugs, smoking, any thing which mutilates or harms the
physical person." - Bishop Daniel Thomas
As I grow older the offer to "have a drink" comes up more and naturally it should. There is nothing wrong with a drink, in fact its a great way to socialize with your family. I personally don't drink because I am underage. Where I do have a problem is when people are ok or want to get "hammered", for the sake of "fun". Wether you are underage or not. We were each given a body as a gift. We are to take care of this gift and the bodies of others. By overindulging in a good thing we bring harm to our bodies and potentially to others. And at the end of our life the Lord will ask us if we took care of this gift, or did we "waste" it for the sake of "fun"?
"But can't you use this same argument for candy? Candy isn't good for your body". Yea your right candy isn't, but in moderation candy is fine. Just as alcohol. This week pray for all alcoholics, and maybe think about not getting hammered next time your at a party. Do you want God to think you where an "ungrateful steward of your body"? This life sometimes isn't fun, but its in reparation for the next. Will you Take the Challenge?

Something to Chew

"When a butterfly flaps its wings in one part of the world it can cause a hurricane in another". Many of you have heard of the tragedy at Penn State, and it lead me to think. One mans action can lead to the destruction of a whole football dynasty. What actions did we do today that effects others? Even our facial expressions can effect someone. Just something to chew on during your challenge!

"Pain, without love, Pain, I can't get enough, Pain, I like it rough, 'Cause I'd rather feel pain than nothing at all" - Three Days Grace.
Ok first this is a terrible song so lets just over look that and move along. Now as bad as this song is these lyrics are really lyrics to a holy life style. Crazy I know, but read it. If you have pain or hurt without love, then its just pain and hurt. If though this pain is joined with love you can do wonders for others. What I'm saying is if you have pain and you offer that pain up for a soul in purgatory or for someone else, then this pain, with love, works wonders! Where all humans and I haven't hurt of one person that has gone a whole week with out pain of some short. This week offer up that pain for someone else! Will you Take the Challenge?

When you think of purity you probably think of not having sex, but purity is much more then that. One of the definitions of purity is "The degree to which a color is free from being mixed with other colors". When a color is mixed with so many other colors it becomes disgusting and tainted. Our souls are the same way. We must be pure in not just action but in words and thoughts. Below is a prayer for purity. This week pray that prayer everyday. Also, try and go to daily mass so "when the "Bread of Angels becomes the Bread of me" in my heart at Holy Communion, seal it forever against the suggestions of sinful pleasures." Will you Take the Challenge?

Jesus, Lover of chastity, Mary, Mother most pure, and Joseph, chaste guardian of the Virgin, to you I come at this hour, begging you to plead with God for me. I earnestly wish to be pure in thought, word and deed in imitation of your own holy purity.
Obtain for me, then, a deep sense of modesty which will be reflected in my external conduct. Protect my eyes, the windows of my soul, from anything that might dim the luster of a heart that must mirror only Christlike purity.
And when the "Bread of Angels becomes the Bread of me" in my heart at Holy Communion, seal it forever against the suggestions of sinful pleasures.
Heart of Jesus, Fount of all purity, have mercy on us.

You can find the Take the Challenge iPhone app here
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/take-the-challenge/id468178150?ls=1&mt=8
Ok so who's gone to the movies recently? I have. You ever notice though what types of movies we have now compared to 10 20 even 30 years ago? Like we freaking have movies out about strippers and a teddy bear that speaks profanity and our society is ok with that. What? Now heres the thing behind it. Over time you become numb to things. If i keep telling you something is good when it is actually bad then over time you'll begin to believe its good. Our society is ok with watching a movie where men and women strip. "o its funny". Well who the heck cares if its funny. Its wrong. Period.
But what are you going to do about? "O well everyone else is doing it" wrong answer buddy. The answer is no. If its wrong then you shouldn't be doing it.
This week if you get asked to watch or part take in something you know deep down is wrong. Do what you know is right! Real men and women do what is right, even if it sucks. Also pray for our society. At this rate where screwed :P

Ever feel like your looking for something but you just can't find it? We all do. We all have something that we want to get an answer to but we just can't figure out how. An we spend hours and hours trying to figure out the answer, but to no avail. Well there is a place where you can find the answer to any question. Its called adoration. Here the ruler of the universe kisses earth, coming in contact with us to help us on our way. Here if we just ask for the answer He will give it to us. An sometimes you have to go more then once, just to hear the answer over and over again.  (Especially if you are stubborn, like me and don't like that particular answer :P) Eventually over many visits you'll realize the answer, you feel it in your heart, but it doesn't end there. You have to take action. God just told you the answer, and even if it stinks, you'll have the most peace with doing His will.  This week visit adoration, at least once, if not more. An ask God your question. He'll give you an answer :)
